The story opens with marauders burning Curt's ranch, kidnapping his wife, Sadie, and committing the /5.   For a book entitled "For God and Country" I found it odd that he didn't even attempt to say how anything he was in service of God. Rather, it all seemed in service of maintaining power, and passing laws that Christians, of which I'm one, might find preferable to Democratic alternatives/5(9).   In GOD COUNTRY, readers meet Emmett Quinlan, an old widower rattled by dementia. An easy way to play this three chord song is to capo the 3rd fret and play the Am chord shape (Cm/G), the C chord shape (G), then slide the C shape up two frets (F) or play the D chord shape (F). The other advantage to this version is that because the Chorus is so high to sing, you can easily capo down a half-step (capo 2), a full step (capo 1), or /5(). God's Own Country is an extraordinary tale of delusion. Like the landscape and the characters it portrays, the narrative is menacing and uncomfortable. Ross Raisin writes with a unique style, blending plot, description, dialogue and thoughts in a melange of rambling copy/5.
